Notes: These are biblical references to Jesus’ preexistence. Jesus’ preexistence means that Jesus has no point of origin, He was not created, and He eternally existed alongside God before they created the world. Time began when they created matter. Generally, there are two types of references: (1) where Jesus’ preexistence is overtly stated [John 17:5]; (2) Jesus’ preexistence is inferred [Col. 1:15-18]. A reocurring theme throughout the Gospel of John is Jesus’ deity and Jesus’ preexistence (see above). Jesus’ preexistence, like most theological truths, is intertwined with other theological truths. For example, since Jesus is God, He also must be pre-existent. The incarnation also requires pre-existence. If you find any more of these references please send them to me and I will add to these for reference.
